Senate Finance Committee Demands Dar’s Resignation


Islamabad (October 12, 2017): The resignation demand of finance minister Ishaq Dar echoed in senate committee for finance as committee summoned the minister for next meeting.

The committee meeting presided over by the senator Saleem Mandiwala held in Islamabad and took up various issues relate to the finance ministry.

The committee member Nasreen Jalil said that country’s economy was trapped in enormous problems while the finance minister seemed inactive, therefore committee should recomend for appointment of new finance minister.

Committee chairman Saleem Mandiwala apprised the meeting that without recommendation of finance minister funds could not be issued but minister was inactive that halted working in ministry.

Senator Saud Majeed urged committee should not intervene government’s affairs as it will be the government’s mandate to appoint change or not change minister.

“It is a minor crisis, we should not make hue and cry over it,” he said.

The officials of the ministry of finance have dispelled the news regarding closure of loan program of World Bank with Pakistan and said that WB was working with Pakistan as per set rules.

However, committee chairman asked the officials to get explanation from WB and apprise the committee.
