Shahbaz Disqualification: LHC Accepts Imran Petition


Lahore (July 17, 2017):  Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday accepted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s petition seeking disqualification of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif as member of Punjab Assembly for preliminary hearing.

The PTI’s chief petition will be heard by Justice Shahid Karim on Tuesday.

Naming Shahbaz Sharif and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as respondents, the PTI chief has moved to LHC for disqualification of the chief minister.

The petition was filed by Baber Awan.

He submitted in his petition that Shahbaz Sharif despite holding public office was associated with personal business.He further submitted that Shahbaz Sharif had gifted Rs6 billion to Nawaz Sharif, which had not mentioned in any money trial.

The petition added that the CM also used his influence for a family Sugar Mills.The petition further said that as per JIT report the assets of Sharif family were beyond their know sources of income.

Imran pleaded the court to disqualify Shahbaz Sharif and order his removal as Chief Minister of Punjab.

The LHC has accepted the petition for preliminary hearing. Justice Shahid Karim of LHC will take up the petition tomorrow.

Meanwhile, PTI Chief Imran Khan tweeted a video allegedly showing scenes of rigging in the recently held NA-260 Quetta-Chagai by-election. Khan said that the nation had lost trust in ECP, as it failed to stop rigging in election.
