Shahbaz Sharif Political Career At A Glance


Web Desk (July 29, 2017): The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif formally announced the nomination of Shahbaz Sharif as next Prime Minister of Pakistan, here is his brief look on his political career.

Shahbaz Sharif, who known for his emotional speeches, born on September 30, 1951 in Lahore and kicked off his political career in 1988,  when he was elected as member of Punjab assembly.In 1990 he elected as member National Assembly, however in 1993 he elected again as MPA and appointed as opposition leader in Punjab Assembly.

However, his political career got its peak, when he was elected and became Chief Minister of Punjab, however he left his post and country after the Musharraf led military coup on October 1999.

In 2007, Then ruler Pervez Musharraf issued a controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) after talks with Benazir Bhutto, which paved the way to return for Sharif Family to come back to Pakistan. Shahbaz Sharif also returned and restart along with his brother.In 2008 general elections, PML-N returned with bang and got majority in Punjab and formed Punjab government.  Shahbaz Sharif again elected as Chief Minister Punjab and served with his hard work and expedited development work across the Punjab.In 2013 PML-N became as a majority party across the country and formed its government at Federal and Provincial Level. Shahbaz Sharif became CM Punjab  third time, as his brother Nawaz Sharif became PM Third Time.

Shahbaz Sharif has the honour of longest period of rule in Punjab after the Maharaja Ranjeet Singh.
