She (Hasin Jahan) only wished for money, shopped for lakhs every month, said cricketer’s uncle Khurshid Ahmed.
Jahan opened a can of worms on March 7 after she claimed that Shami is having extra-marital affairs. She took to her Facebook to share photos of she alleges to be Shami’s WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger chats with a number of women.
She later accused Shami of beating her and alleged that cricketer’s brother and mother of trying to kill her. Jahan also claimed that Shami was in a relationship with Pakistani woman Alishba and met her in Dubai as the Indian cricket team returned from South Africa.
While Shami has been denying all the allegations, following Jahan’s written complaint, an FIR is lodged against Shami and his four family members in Kolkata’s Jadavpur police station under several Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including section 498A, which amounts to cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives. The other charges recorded against Shami are under Section 307 – attempt to murder, Section 323 – punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 376 – rape, Section 506 – criminal intimidation, Section 328 and Section 34.Earlier, there were reports of a possible out of court settlement and Shami’s family members meeting Jahan’s lawyer Zakir Hussain, Shami, following Jahan’s continuous verbal attacks, has ruled out a possibility of patch up.
Amidst all the tense times in the Shami household, cricketer’s uncle has now come out in Shami’s defense and criticised Jahan, saying Jahan was after money.
Earlier on Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed to Kolkata Police that Shami stayed in a hotel in Dubai on February 17 and 18 on Indian cricket team’s journey back to India from South Africa.
BCCI’s response came after a letter was sent to the Board by the Kolkata Police seeking Shami’s schedule last month. The police sought the details to check if he had gone to Dubai as claimed by his wife Hasin Jahan.
