LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri Tuesday claimed both Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shehbaz Sharif will be behind bars soon for their involvement in Model Town.
Earlier today, the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected the government plea and ordered to publish the inquiry report of the Model Town massacre, which had left several PAT workers dead and scores injured.
Talking to Samaa TV after the LHC ruling, the PAT chief said, “We want justice and Qisas for those wronged in Model Town.”
The two brothers will soon be in jail and will get exemplary punishment, he asserted.
The court today ordered Punjab government to release the Baqir Najafi report within 30 days and also conduct a transparent and impartial trial of the incident.
It should be mentioned here that Punjab moved LHC against September 21 order by a single-judge bench of Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi who directed to to make public the Model Town report and provide the copies of the report to the families of the victims of June 17, 2014 incident.
Ever since Justice Baqar Najafi compiled Model Town carnage report and handed it to the provincial government, it was put under the carpet.
The Punjab government spokesman Zaeem Qadri said the inquiry report is not being published as it is not final as yet.
Zaeem Qadri also said the provincial government will challenge the report in the Supreme Court. –Samaa
