KARACHI: Former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon Monday challenged his arrest before Accountability Court in a case of corruption worth Rs.5.75 billion in Sindh information ministry.
In a petition filed through his counsel, Sharjeel Memon said no warrant was issued for his arrest on October 23; hence, he requested the court to declare the arrest as illegal.
Sharjeel said even the place of arrest was wrongly written, adding the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) misstated before the court. He said the court may ask the investigation officer as to from where the accused was arrested.
On this, judge said, “Why are you dragging the IO into this fix? Let go of this question.”
The court adjourned the hearing till November 18. Later, Memon reached Sindh Assembly to attend a session. –Samaa
