Prime Minister Imran Khan said Thursday his government was striving to provide a conducive atmosphere to foreign investors in Pakistan.

The prime minister said so while addressing Turkish industrialists and traders at a ceremony in Ankara. He stressed the need for promoting bilateral trade between Pakistan and Turkey.

“We will provide all facilities to foreign investors in Pakistan, we are making business easy for them,” Khan said.

He said Pakistan was establishing industrial zones with the help of China, adding that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would boost trade activities in Pakistan.

The prime minister pointed to investment opportunities in oil, gas and mineral exploration in Pakistan.

“There have been immense opportunities in Pakistan with regard to tourism,” he said, noting that half of the world’s highest peaks are in Pakistan.

Khan further said his government was fully focused on improving governance in the country.

Earlier on the day, the prime minister arrived in Turkey on a two-day visit on the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The prime minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Adviser to PM on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood and Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua.

Khan will be given a reception by the Turkish president of Friday, followed by a one-on-one meeting between the two figures.

The Pakistan premier and President Erdogan are expected to discuss the Afghan peace process, bilateral relations as well as regional and international situation at the meeting.

The visit is set to help explore new avenues of cooperation and collaboration between the two states, particularly in areas of economic, trade and commercial relations.
