Talal Chaudhry contempt case adjourned till March 6


ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and state minister Talal Chaudry submitted his response to the Supreme Court of Pakistan hearing contempt of court suo moto notice against him on Monday. 

The three-judge SC bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal adjourned the contempt of court hearing against Talal Chaudhry till March 6 as his counsel did not appear today.

On a query by Justice Ejaz regarding the whereabouts of his counsel, the PML-N leader replied his counsel is on holidays till March 5.

He told the court that he submitted his response.

The apex court took suo moto notice of  Talal Chaudhry’s tirade against judiciary in a public meeting.
Chaudhry was seen launching tirade against judiciary at the ruling party’s rally in Jaranwala where PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz also criticised Supreme Court and judges.

Chaudhry has been criticizing judiciary in talk-shows and media talks on occasions of hearings against Sharif family at Accountability Court and Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court’s notice came hours after the apex court sentenced PML-N Senator Nehal Hashmi to one-month imprisonment and barred him from holding public office for the next five years for his anti-judiciary diatribe. – Samaa
