TCS Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd, has inaugurated its international gateway facility in Lahore.
Following the announcement of TCS’s strategy to develop its international reach by becoming UPS’s Authorized Service Contractor in Pakistan and the opening of its international gateway in Karachi in 2017, the company continues to enhance its international express capabilities in Pakistan.
The expanded Lahore facility is a new milestone in its ongoing development strategy and will help TCS streamline import and export shipments in Punjab. Together, TCS and UPS’s leadership teams inaugurated the new international gateway facility and further the two companies’ cooperation.
Talking about UPS’s visit, Mr. Khalid Awan, Founder & Chairman, TCS Holdings Pvt Ltd, said,
“This is a great opportunity for both our organizations to extend and expand our scope of operations. The fact that we are now inaugurating the second international gateway in Pakistan is a testament to the growing logistics needs of Pakistan.”
Welcoming the delegation, Mr. M. A. Mannan, President & CEO of TCS Holdings Pvt Ltd said,
“This partnership is a relationship between two industry leaders.” He continued, “After the success of the Karachi gateway, we are delighted to launch this Lahore facility with UPS, as it will help us focus on the needs of our customers in this region.
UPS is continuing to enhance its international reach, driven by increased demand for cross-border trade services. Working here in Pakistan with TCS is a win for our customers wishing to tap into the many opportunities that international business brings,” said Jean-Francois Condamine, UPS President for the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Africa (ISMEA) while unveiling the plaque.
“The new facility that TCS unveils today is yet another means for customers to plug into UPS’s smart global logistics network which moves 3% of the world gross domestic product (GDP) every day.”
Logistics play an increasingly key role for businesses seeking competitive advantages and trading across borders. Due to rapid growth from the textile and garments sector, coupled with continuing development in the industrial segment, the Pakistan economy is gradually growing. Textiles and apparel make up 57% of Pakistan’s exports and about 9.5% of the country’s GDP.
Additionally, the pharmaceutical industry in Pakistan is experiencing rapid growth, with exports expected to increase from $200 million to $5 billion in the next decade. Businesses in these sectors need logistics partners to create supply chain efficiencies and that is one of TCS and UPS’s key focus areas in Pakistan. Connecting TCS to UPS’s smart global logistics network is helping to grow businesses across all sectors and is facilitating trade between local and international destinations.
Pakistan is positioning itself to be the next great growth market in South Asia and is strategically positioned in the New Silk Road. The New Silk Road consists of over 60 countries, 60% of the population and 70% of GDP in the world. This market expansion is driving other overseas companies to explore business opportunities in Pakistan resulting in increased foreign investment. The additional space being added will allow for a further doubling of capacity.
Focused on making customers lives simple, easy and convenient, TCS and UPS offer to customers in Pakistan and abroad fast and cost-effective solutions for all their international logistics needs, which is crucial for global business.
