KARACHI: Terrorists and members of ex-foreign militant organisations could target the Shia community in the city during Moharram, according to a notification issued by the National Counter Terrorism Authority on Saturday.
According to the notification, reconnaissance had been conducted in the areas of Abbas Town, Ancholi Imambargah, Markazi Imambargah Haidar-e-Karar Orangi Town number 5, Community Hall of PNS Jauhar, Ali Imambargah Qasbah Colony and Haideri Imambargah Orangi Number 4.
“Extreme vigilance and heightened security measures are suggested to avoid untoward incident,” read the notification.
Mobile phone services have been suspended across various cities of Pakistan where the threat of terrorist attacks exists.
