Three Missing After Japan Military Chopper Loses Contact

Tokyo(August 27, 2017): A search operation has been launched for three crew members of Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) helicopter after it lost contact over the Sea of Japan.

Japan’s Defence Ministry said one crew member had been rescued uninjured.

The authorities have located the flight data recorder but did not say what had actually happened to the helicopter. An investigation has been started into incident.

Earlier this month, four Japanese crew members were injured after their CH-101 chopper crashed on land during a training exercise at Iwakuni Air Base in Yamaguchi Prefecture in western Japan.
