At least 16 people died and scores of others sustained burn injuries on Sunday after a truck and a passenger van collision in Hasan Abdal, Punjab, Express News reported.
Initially, only 10 people died when the Peshawar-bound truck coming from Rawalpindi crashed into the van and the two vehicles caught fire and subsequently hit a nearby gas pipeline on GT Road which further fuelled the fire.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to the hospital where six more people succumbed to their injuries.
DPO Abdul Rasheed has evacuated the nearby area to avoid further risk of life.
