Trump Demands Arab Allies to End Qatar Dispute

Web Desk(April 12, 2018): United States President Donald Trump has demanded Saudi Arabia and its Arab partners to quickly end their dispute with Qatar that has left US allies in the region fractured.

According to US officials, President Trump called Saudi King Shah Salman and demanded to end conflicts with Qatar as it is affecting US allies in the region .

It may be recalled that on 11th of April, United States President Donald Trump praised his country’s ties with Qatar, when he welcomed the Qatari emir to the White House for talks over various  issues, including the months-long Gulf diplomatic crisis.

Speaking to reporters alongside Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Trump said the US and Qatar “have been great friends in so many ways” and “are working very well together”.“We are working on unity in that part of the Middle East and I think it’s working out very well; there are lot of good things happening,” added the US president.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain – all members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Egypt cut diplomatic ties with Doha on June 5, 2017, and imposed a land, sea and air embargo, accusing it of supporting “terrorism”.For his part, Sheikh Tamim hailed Trump’s role in trying to find a solution to the ongoing Gulf rift. “I would like to thank the president for him being involved personally in solving the GCC crisis,” said Al-Thani.
