Islamabad (February 2, 2018): Two prosecution witnesses will record their statements against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retired captain Muhammad Safdar via video link from United Kingdom (UK) with an accountability court as a trial pertaining to three National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references against them will resume today.
According to the details, Raja Akhtar had requested NAB Lahore that he and a British citizen Robert W Radley wanted to give testimony against the Sharif family. He said that Radley has solid evidences against the Sharif family. Akhtar urged the court to record their statements via video link as they cannot come to Pakistan due to security reasons.Later the accountability judge granted them permission to record their statements via video link.
On January 30, the accountability court on Tuesday had rejected ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s plea against supplementary reference filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).During the hearing of NAB references, Justice Mohammad Bashir turned down the petition and summoned five witnesses of the prosecution regarding supplementary reference. He has also directed to record the statements of the witnesses living abroad via video link.
Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris raised objection over the supplementary reference, saying that it was filed by keeping in view Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report.
