KARACHI: Social media during the past few years has become more of an online business portal connecting buyers and sellers from all three sectors of economic activity, that is, primary, secondary and tertiary. Be it a product or a service providing venture, social media is now the go-to platform for many look for reviews or consumer feedback about a particular business.
A major chunk of business engagement through social media, however, makes for a greater share of underground economy or shadow economy. Through integration of home-based business ventures with the documented business activity the government cannot only expand its tax net, but also help economic progress through provision of better business prospects to such enterprises. But the upside of it is that it encourages women participation in economic activities.
