Winter Rains Lash Most Areas of Country

Web Desk (November 14, 2017): Winter rains lashed various cities and areas most areas of the country and across all the four provinces- Punjab, Khyber Pakhtwankhwa (KPK), Sindh, and Balochistan- early morning today pushing down the temperature forcing the people to dig out warm clothes.

Rains lashed most areas of Punjab including Chichawatni, Haroonabad, Bhawalnagar, Melsi, Renala Khurd, Okara, Chiniot, Manchanabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, and Phalan.

The first winter rains of this season not only helped pushed mercury down but have also helped lessen the dense smog that has disrupted daily life and was blamed for numerous accidents as well as closure of sections of Motorway and major thoroughfares.

The cold wave has now forced people to stay indoors and to venture out of homes only if and when necessary.

Lakki Marwat and many other parts of KPK province as well as both North Waziristan and district Wana of South Waziristan have also received winter rains.

In Sindh, rains lashed Sukkur and surrounding areas last night while thunder showers lashed Jacobabad, Naushehro Feroze, and Mehar cities and surrounding areas.

In Balochistan thunder showers lashed Sibbi city and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile Meteorological Department has forecast that during next 12 hours More rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in KP, FATA, Islamabad, upper Punjab( Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha divisions), Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while at isolated rain-thunderstorm in D.G.Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Zhob divisions. Dense foggy/smoggy conditions are likely to subside in plain areas of Punjab.

During the next 24 hours, the Met Department said, more rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in KPK, FATA, federal capital Islamabad, upper Punjab( Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha divisions), Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dense foggy/smoggy conditions are likely to subside in plain areas of Punjab.
