Xiaomi’s list of printers on its crowdfunding platform typically consists of traditional printers but with some smart features on the side. This time, however, the Chinese brand is introducing something a bit different. Xiaomi’s Youpin platform is crowdfunding a portable printer that can print on the go.
The new PrinterPods handheld DIY printer is designed for those who want customizability. It uses a special ink that can imprint any design, logo, or patterns on several surfaces. The surface does not have to be flat, meaning that it can be used on different textured surfaces such as skin, cups, clothes, sports items, tech gadgets, etc.
There are a few different ink options to choose from including skin-friendly, invisible, permanent, and edible so people can feel free to put it on food as well.
The build of the gadget makes it very easy to carry around and hold. The printer is only 99mm in length, which is smaller than many smartphones and the design is sleek and streamlined for easier grip. You can use the printer’s accompanying app for preloaded designs or upload images for custom patterns.
The printer is being crowdfunded on the Youpin platform for $72 and it should be available for sale soon.
